Appropriate nutrition plays a vital role in your dog’s overall health and well-being. To ensure your dog maintains its energy, has a strong immune system, develops and maintains healthy bones and muscles, a balanced diet needs the right amounts of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are the primary components of a dog’s diet, with proteins being essential for muscle growth and repair. Fats provide energy and help with nutrient absorption, while carbohydrates offer a source of quick energy. Vitamins and minerals, though required in smaller amounts, are crucial for various metabolic functions and maintaining good health. Several factors should be taken into account when selecting the best dog food for your pet, including its age, breed, activity level, and health status. These factors can influence your dog’s nutritional requirements and help determine the appropriate type of food and portion sizes.

The dog food industry has flourished in the last decade. Adopting a pet and having the best pet food is necessary for every pet owner. Many pet foods come in different sorts of ingredients.  Pet owners often find it difficult to choose from dog foods whether to select grain-inclusive or grain-free food for their dogs. Grain is a food that has a good amount of calories and is rich in fiber energy. Wheat, corn, rice, oats, barley, and cornmeal are all examples of grains. Grain-free diets are formulated to exclude common grains like wheat, corn, and rice, and instead use alternatives such as potatoes, peas, lentils, and chickpeas.

The idea behind these diets was that dogs may have difficulty digesting grains, leading to health problems such as allergies or digestive issues. Around the globe there are different breeds of dog and each of them has differences in their liking and their habits. It also depends on region to region where the dog breed is nourishing from birth.

It is often misinterpreted that removing grain-inclusive dog foods from your pup’s diet might solve food allergies and infections. But to some extent, it may maybe due to the early adoption of grain-filled dog foods for your young pup. Heavy forms of grains like pure wheat lentils and peas may maybe responsible for digestion or gastro problems in your pup’s body. These high-caloric forms of grains have exothermic energy which means that these foods take more amount of time to digest in the body. And also burns fewer calories thus making room for fat storage.

A potential reason that some pet owners opt for grain-free diets is due to concerns about the environmental impact of grain farming. For the production of grains, a major key role of pesticides, fertilizers, and ammonic urea usage is involved. Due to the usage of all these products many people think that it may contribute to the carbon footprint of the earth’s atmosphere, this is the reason that they want to eliminate or may take part in the usage of ammonic-free products.

Dogs are considered one of the most adopted animals in the world. People have a special affection to offer to puppies. Ever since this started, dog foods have gained popularity. It comes in different forms with different and versatile benefits for your puppy.

Fresh Beef Recipe For Your Pup

This is a balanced dog food recipe that many veterinarians recommend. Everyone wants their dogs to live long & healthy lives, so you should make their food yourself. It should be such that you know exactly what is in their food. It can get pricey, but hospital bills are even pricier. Healthy food is equal to good health.

For health reasons obviously, But it’s also perfect for making in bulk, which makes it much more convenient. You can make a large batch of this once or twice a month, keep it in the freezer, and thaw overnight as needed until you run out. I make about 11 pounds of food uncooked and it will last almost 3 weeks for my two small adult dogs (about 10 pounds each).

This recipe can also count as 3 recipes. You can switch out the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken, and just add a little extra beef liver to make up for the iron, zinc, and protein. That way your dog has a little variety in their meals.

Check with your veterinarian for how much food your dog needs per serving. On average two dogs are about 10 pounds each, feed them 2/3 of a cup (each), twice a day. If you choose to cook the food, do so without any oil on a non-stick pan on low heat. Be careful not to sear the meat- you want to gently cook it until it is just done. You can make patties, large chunks, or break them down into mince if you prefer.

Disclaimer

Homemade diets are growing in popularity in part because the ingredients can be controlled, so there is no fear of dog food recalls. In addition, many people are trying to eat healthier and they want the same for their dogs. Homemade diets are favored by some because they contain whole food ingredients that are generally considered healthier than processed dry or wet dog food. Like humans, dogs have nutritional needs that must be met for them to thrive. Dogs’ nutritional needs differ from our own, so you can not exactly start sharing your dinner with your dog. Feeding an incomplete or imbalanced diet can lead to vitamin and nutrient deficiencies in dogs.

Fresh Chicken Salad Recipe For Your Pup

Preheat oven to 400°. Coat a glass dish with cooking spray. Brush olive oil over each chicken breast. Place about an inch apart in the dish and cook for about 30 minutes. Let the chicken cool for about five minutes. To make the dressing: In a separate bowl, mash up avocado (make sure you are only using the flesh, as the other parts can be toxic to dogs). Mix in yogurt, cilantro, parsley, lemon juice, and garlic salt. Stir until creamy. Chop up the chicken and put it in a separate bowl. Add the bell pepper, celery, and carrots. Toss and stir. Pour the dressing over the chicken mixture. Stir all together and serve immediately.

This chicken salad is much healthier than one that uses mayo in the recipe. As mentioned earlier, make sure you only use avocado flesh in your recipe, as the pit and skin can be toxic for dogs to ingest. If you are skeptical about using vanilla yogurt in the dressing for this chicken salad it was phenomenal. You can also choose to use lime juice instead of lemon and you can buy pre-cooked/pre-packaged chicken pieces. Some prefer to be as fresh cooking meals so must choose to cook the chicken yourself. It is also cheaper.

Conclusion

Dogs are among those pets that are extremely taken care of. They are loved by all. Their health is a concern at all levels. These are two recipes that are homemade and can be made with few ingredients yet not compromising on the required energy calories.
